OLD LEARN WOODWORKING: List

DURATION

2 days ( 0900 to 1700 -  8 hours each )

AGE GROUP

Min 12 years
The age range of 12 to 17 Years, would require a chaperone

THE BUILD

You get to work on your own design, and would have to procure the lumber accordingly; the material of choice is soft wood (Pinewood) as it is easier to work with. But you are free to procure any timber of your liking.
The build would be completely free of any metal fasteners and would be a pure joinery build. (Please discuss the build with me before the workshop so that I can guide you on the requirement of lumber. )
This build should expose you to a world of basic wood joinery, and an understanding of grain direction.
You are free to make your own project too, which I would highly recommend.
Please do remember, the workshop spans two days, hence if the build of your project spans more than two days , the same can be completed in your own work space at leisure.

EXCLUSIONS

  • PLANING WOOD :

This is a time consuming activity, and in the interest of time will only be covered in theory and as an experience

  • FINISHING TECHNIQUES :

Finishing techniques is an entirely different topic altogether, that would not be covered in this module , due to time constraints. The process would be explained in brief.

  • MEALS

Considering the current PANDEMIC situation, I would suggest bringing along your own meal and bottled water. I can provide access to basic cutlery and a microwave where you can heat your meal.

Although ordering from Swiggy, Zomato, etc still remains an option

  • LUMBER

The build would purely be based on your design , so that you can cherish your first creation. We would discuss the design and I can accordingly let you know the amount of Lumber required. Your Journey begins from here.

SAFETY

Woodworking can be a strenuous experience due to his physical nature , hence do let me know if this would pose a challenge. I would plan the build accordingly.

Woodworking involves sharp tools and requires a strong focus towards safety. I therefore prefer participants to adhere to a few safety guidelines.

  1. Please dress appropriately and tie your hair down in a bun or use a bandana, avoid any loose clothing or if you have long hair, letting your hair loose, as we would be using power tools running at high RPM

  2. Please wear close toe shoes for the workshop

  3. Do carry a facemask, which is mandatory under the current situation.

  4. Do carry an eye protection, to avoid sawdust from entering your eyes.

  5. If you want to safe guard your hands from callouses, do carry a pair of gloves with you.

  6. Please do inform me if you have any allergy or known medical issues so that I can plan the build accordingly.

  7. Do carry enough drinking water with you to keep yourself hydrated

  8. The objective of the workshop is to learn the skill involved and not to finish the project, hence it please donot make it a race against time. Remember SINCE THIS IS AN INDIVIDUAL SESSION, THERE WOULD BE AN ABUNDANCE OF KNOWLEDGE SHARING.

  9. For your safety, the use of power tools would be under the trainer’s supervision or at the sole discretion of the trainer.
